Unique structure, can’t help to get closer

Sendai Mediatheque

Every thin pillar makes up one bold structure that you can see the unique feature once you get into inside. When I studied architecture, I heard many times about “Sendai Mediatheque” where I’m going to tell you now. One of work by Toyo Ito who famous for the architecture world. I would hear his name when I studied that industry..anyway let’s dig in.

Sendai Mediatheque

I’ve been thinking I want to go this complex facilities because one of my favorite architect designed this building. Surface is light whereas durable structure. In fact it was proofed against earthquake.

Sendai Mediatheque

Guess, what you think after watching these pillars. Unique isn’t it?

Sendai Mediatheque

I thought pillars are just standing for pushing up weight of architecture but was wrong. I found the elevator in it! Functionality in it so I was able to take photo from inside of pillar. Looking above!

Sendai Mediatheque

Also escalator installed. Needless to say?

Sendai Mediatheque

Here is a document space, not classic, not old fashion, I got sort of good when being on this floor. Ceiling light in straight alignment with white light made it to be cool.

Sendai Mediatheque

Took a rest on the long bench. You can see outside over glass.

Sendai Mediatheque

I found position where I can look over library with many pillars. It shouldn’t have been under construction.. So all of them were covered and not good for picture. oh..

Sendai Mediatheque

Took facade from over street. As you see trees in front and it was hard to take exteriors.

Sendai Mediatheque

One thing you need to know before taking photo is that permission. You would need to ask it at reception. Don’t be nervous, it’s free of charge! haha.

Sendai Mediatheque

Sky above me is always pure blue. Thanks god.

It didn’t take long time to walk around but it made me think how should I take photo in terms of angle because the alignment of pillars is irregular to me. So to take good one, I repeated one step forward or back many time to take good one shot. The location wise this architecture was way far from Tokyo and where doesn’t have many other sightseeing place so it wouldn’t take time to see. If you go there I would recommend to go with another place.

If you have question, contact me or feel free to ask me.
