Path to the SKY. Go and see for yourself

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Early summer has come; green is back to museum. At the same time I’m breathing fresh air, I already decided to go Ichihara Lakeside Museum when time comes. Basically featured exhibition was regularly held and those theme are usually along modern art related. When I think where I go next is depending on theme and this time’s theme ruled me which is by Carsten Nicolai’s works. Of course another reason I went there is cool architecture tho.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

You can say hello to idyllic landscape while getting to this museum. Easy to imagine from picture above.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Once you enter this museum, you will first see this symbolic object. You can actually touch this object and take picture with. Some people were playing with this works.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Photo with my ticket today. This is going to get my memory back when digging up this photo again in the future.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

The featured exhibition was Carsten Nicolai.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Description on the wall in English. I didn’t check if there is brochure in English or not but seems there is as well.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

This room took me to illusion world. Intense light source comes from ceiling. The reflected pattern won’t be the same. A couple of people played with standing between light source and screen wall so I did too. haha

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

His main exhibition at this time should be reflected on this picture. The room filled with darkness to highlight works. There are bench in the middle of this room for visitor but.. it’s hard to find them in darkness and I was the one.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Play with sounds shoot by many speaker system around me.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Honestly I didn’t expected that I faced this type of path. Can you guess what this narrow path for..

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Here it is. The path take me to rooftop!

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

One couple was dancing on the roof walking through part of art work. You can actually touch them. So to speak experienced-based art.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Many children froliced with. And I did too haha.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Being said there is rule for it. How to play and how to NOT play. The description on the wall is designed using pixel art. Speaking of pixel, the web page for this museum also has pixel focused design in some part.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Today was relatively high temperature outside that made looking for anywhere cool…like underground. Let’s step down haha.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

There is one exhibition by Ryota Kawakubo’s in basement. Seemingly his work focuses on form which generated sophisticated light and shadow. The basement is done..

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

An architecture model for this museum is placed at the corner of archive room. This museum actually renovated and open in 2013. I like unique shape.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

Photo from street near by.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

The big picture around museum. It can be bucolic I would say.

Ichihara Lakeside Museum

The blue sky! Made my day!

Whenever I’m looking for beautiful and experience based art but honestly rare to catch those facilities. However contrary to that general case, this museum take me to ideal world where I like. Architecture itself is worth to see and walking through inside also interesting for art and architecture person. Moreover not only that case, once you look around outside you would feel pastoral landscape. On the other hand this museum is bit far to get around from Tokyo so you need to pitch plan in advance.
