TRIP INTO JAPAN.
Art & Architecture

Darkness exists for lights, and vice versa

common gallery

There is someone who can put their imagination into the real world. For example even though I like something beautiful one, it’s hard to tell exactly the shape or outline because it’s a vague one. However sometimes you can reach such works in the real world like I met this time. See what was displayed on this exhibition by waku at the common gallery.

After stepping inside and looking back around the door. The black wall with reflection is the gate to this gallery. The center light on the picture explains the name of this exhibition “In person”.

I got closer to check up the font and detail of the neon tube on the wall. I like doing this sort of action because sometimes details take me to new discoveries that I didn’t expect. When I found the blue one where it bends over, it caught my eyes.

Think how you would feel if you were here, in front of this work. The neon tubes weave each other goes to one united shape and crossing over black neon tubes made a good result of light especially in this dark room.

Moving on to next work. This one was installed on the floor. Seems it’s composed of a couple of works but what I want to put down here is not them. The thing is..

common gallery

It’s actually flicking! I barely check them visually because of changing at high speed. You can recognize it after taking a photo like I was.

common gallery

See. Obviously color changed when checking on the photo though, haha. Alignment in regular patterns turn into several geometries and they made up one united shape with good isolation. Cool.

common gallery

Keep walking along the wall. This is how neon tubes are made from many parts. Umm the number of pieces is more than expected. Actually the next light might catch your eyes which is installed at the end of the way.

common gallery

I don’t know how to describe or tell this form. Random multi tubes run vertically sometimes cross over each other. Do you want to go for more close?

common gallery

Get closer! I wonder how to design and make these irregular shapes. I think it’s hard using drawing, which means there is no drawing and thinking of “how to” is nonsense at this artwork. Anyway with having reflection on background stands this out more.

common gallery

Next are circles. I couldn’t get it the first time what was on the wall so I got toward it. Then actually these aligned circles are made of mirrors and have a curved surface.

common gallery

This picture revealed the material of circles and I have one thing that I want to tell. When you look at the right bottom in the picture closely, there is a bench on it. It was good to see the work for a long time and it was intended to, because comfortable music played from your behind.

common gallery

Oops, I almost forgot about English description at this exhibition. Obviously it’s on the wall after passing the door. The number of tourists from overseas is getting higher so you can find words in English everywhere nowadays.

common gallery

The moment I always like is when I’m looking for a new place to visit. This gallery was not beautiful, to say the most but the theme brought up in this gallery was cool and was worth checking up.

Hello clear blue sky from Tokyo. Even though it is a crowded center of the city, there is beautiful blue as well as countryside.

I like the fact that seeing light related things because it makes something stand out even the light itself. In this exhibition, I realized it again. The neon tube has beautiful lights and it puts power into their shapes. Finally, in combination with lights and shapes took me to another world haha. When you come to Japan, no one knows what type of exhibition will be held but definitely this time was RIGHT.
